Washington DC Monuments

Washington DC Monuments - The Lincoln Memorial & Reflecting Pool

On my first day in DC I had lunch on Fisherman’s Wharf (if you’re ever in DC during crab season I’d definitely recommend visiting) and afterwards took photos during a walk along the Tidal Basin and the National Mall.

I arrived at the World War II Memorial and the Reflecting Pool a bit before sunset and climbed the steps of the Lincoln Memorial to stand face to large shoe with Honest Abe. The White House and Washington Monument were impressive but The Capitol Building stood out to me most because it imposingly stretched across much of the eastern end of the National Mall. I was able to see most of the monuments at least from a distance if not up close. Hopefully on my next visit I’ll have a chance to make it across the Tidal Basin to the Thomas Jefferson Memorial.
