P. Pole Pizza

After the Jake Paul v. Anthony Joshua Press Conference, I looked for a place to eat that wouldn’t have a long wait and wasn’t expensive. I found P. Pole Pizza on Google Maps and planned to stay just long enough to record while the pizza was fresh and hot. My hotel room had a fridge but no microwave. I figured pizza would be a good option because I could eat it at room temperature if I felt peckish later.

P. Pole Pizza provides a wide array of customizations in the sense that you have multiple options for crust, sauce, toppings, and condiments. After you make your selections, the pizza is placed on a conveyor-belt oven, where it bakes quickly.

I got the regular crust with half spicy tomato sauce and half pesto. I can’t eat mozzarella, so I chose goat cheese, which I didn’t know was considered a topping rather than a base cheese. (This changed the pizza “package” and resulted in additional costs.) For toppings, I chose a spicy pepperoni and olives. And for condiments, I got red pepper flakes, garlic powder, and a bit of Parmesan cheese.

The very bottom layer of the crust was crisp but the rest was light and airy. The combination of red pepper flakes, spicy pepperoni, and spicy tomato sauce was perfect for me. The pesto side was a little bit drier. I think they went a bit light on the pesto and it dried out. It was just the smallest, little, tiniest hint of pesto on the pizza. Yet, it was enough to create a nice, fresh, earthy flavor. I think I did well with picking the toppings and put together a great combination of flavors.

If anything, I would say they could have put a little bit more sauce on the pizza for a bit more richness. And if you think of it, the acid of the tomato would help to cut through some of the richness of the pepperoni. But even with that missing, it was still a nice combination of flavors and textures.
