Holiday Meals Part 2: Christmas 2012

Baked Chicken with Garlic Smashed Potatoes, Popovers, & Salad

After Thanksgiving I develop a severe disgust towards turkey that lasts until a few weeks before the next Thanksgiving. Chocolate Hor d’Oeuvres at NY Chocolate Show

Ivoire Goat Cheese Tartlets with Figs & Black Olives

I had a great time attending the 2012 New York Chocolate Show last Friday. My favorite part of the event was the cooking demonstrations, especially the chocolate hor d’oeuvres demo. Kathie Rosenhouse presented four easy to prepare appetizers that featured chocolate. My critique/opinions of the dishes along with photos are featured in this post and the recipes are available on Katie Rosenhouse’s blog.

Citarella Raspberry Tart

Citarella Raspberry Tart

I visited Citarella for the first time last week. It’s fairly similar to most fancy supermarkets you might find in Manhattan. There’s a bakery , fish stand, cheese counter, and small produce section in addition to your other standard bits and pieces. Unfortunately, I was only able to snap a photo of a raspberry tart before being told that the store doesn’t allow photography. Sadsies.

Ruthy’s Bakery at Chelsea Market

Ruthy's Bakery Cookie Monster & Elmo Cupcakes

Ruthy’s Bakery is a small shop located in Chelsea Market that specializes in very creative cakes and cupcakes. My all-time favorite Sesame Street character is Cookie Monster with Elmo in second place and I was thrilled to see them in the form of cupcakes.

Yelp Summer Stunner

A few weeks ago I received an invitation to attend Yelp’s Summer Stunner at the Queens Museum of Art. The Summer Stunner was an evening for tasting dishes and drinks from restaurants around Queens while listening to music and viewing the Museum’s art collection.
