Big Apple BBQ 2010

Ahh barbecue; how can you not love it? Dry rubbed, slathered in sauce, sauce on the side. Speaking of sides: Texas Toast, corn on the cob, coleslaw, baked beans…I could go on forever. I love food and I’m especially fond of barbecue.
Fortunately, once a year restaurants from around the country gather in New York City’s Madison Square Park for the Big Apple BBQ. The BBQ is a weekend long block party where slabs of ribs, pulled pork sandwiches, brisket, and sausages are served up to thousands of New Yorkers.
The BBQ offers a great opportunity for event photography and on location food photography. However, a drawback would be that attendees are kept some distance from the prep areas but I found it wasn’t much of an issue with a zoom lens.
